History of Dawn of Promise Farm

Riding and showing since the age of 2, Vickie Maris started Dawn of Promise in 1985, and was, at that time, raising Section A Welsh ponies. Vickie has a B.S. degree in Agricultural Communications with an emphasis in Animal Science, and a master's in Learning Design and Technology. She has been working on a farm or running a farm for as long as she can remember!
While interning in Virginia, Vickie met several Connemara ponies and their wonderful owners. She made the decision to convert the operation over to the raising and training of Connemaras, the native pony of western Ireland.
Vickie has seen many successes with her breeding program and the training of her young Connemaras throughout the years. Her Connemara stallion, the nationally-known Kerrymor Madison, was honored in 2002 with the An Tostal Hall of Fame Trophy by the American Connemara Pony Society for outstanding performance. He has over 50 offspring in North America who are contributing citizens in the equine community. In her spare time, Vickie has served as a 4-H Leader, she has taught lessons for Pony Club, and she has taught numerous children to ride with the help of her Connemaras at Dawn of Promise.
Vickie married Scott Greeson in 2008 and together, they continue the farm. But to accommodate their busy music schedule (www.scottgreesonmusic.com) and the demands of their day jobs, Vickie opted to change the farm operations to the raising and training of llamas. She had met her first llamas at the Tippecanoe County Fair, and noticed their gentle natures and luxurious fiber. After much research, which included visits to 10 different llama farms around the Midwest, she selected her foundation breeding stock and they began the adventure into the world of llamas - showing, fiber production and companion animals.
