LEADERSHIP LESSONS LEARNED FROM LIVESTOCK

Learn from Vickie in this fun and interesting workshop as she shares ideas and tools for teamwork that stem from her unique perspective. Her varied career paths in farm owning and animal training to higher education, corporate America and business owning provide her with a unique combination of perspectives to bring to the table.
She consults in online course design and digital content strategy. With a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification and a strong focus in project management, you will often find her viewing projects through those lenses. Her career spans over 30 years in industry and higher education.
During her 24-year career at Purdue University, she was a two-time award winner in the College of Engineering where she formed and led the team that was responsible for the development and launch of online certification courses for business professionals in Lean Six Sigma and Project Management.

She has given talks on online course design on multiple occasions at the OLC Accelerate Conference and the Conference on Professional, Management and Executive Development. She has been a keynote speaker with her Leadership Lessons Learned From Livestock presentation during the state-wide training conference held at the Governor’s Center for Management Development at the University of Texas – Austin.
Vickie has served on the board of the Conference on Management, Executive and Professional Development (CMED). She is a Certified Master Trainer of Zenger-Miller Facilitation Skills. In this role, she has trained other facilitators at Purdue University.
Vickie is a professional animal handler and trainer and has shown animals since her youth. She and her husband, Scott, run a hobby-size farm in Battle Ground, Indiana where they live with two Connemara ponies, a small herd of llamas, a few show rabbits, and their cat, Frank. She has trained several of her lamas for performance and packing, and they have been recognized in the Top 10 in the nation in the International Lama Registry Universal Awards Program. Her Connemara pony stallion, also trained by Vickie, was honored in 2002 with the An Tostal Hall of Fame Trophy by the American Connemara Pony Society for Outstanding Performance. Vickie earned a B.S. degree in agricultural communications and an M.S. Ed in learning design and technology from Purdue.
